Spanish Speaking Montessori Primary Guide (3-6)

Beginning Summer / Early Fall 2025

The Dahlia School of San Francisco will offer an authentic, international, Montessori Spanish Language curriculum with the goal of bringing peace, joy and global-mindedness to the world through the child. We are seeking a dedicated, benevolent AMI trained Primary Guide who is passionate about equity, diversity, community building, teacher leadership and child and family support. You will be the Lead Guide of the Primary/Children’s House Class.

Responsibilities include:
● Schedule will be 8:00am – 4:00pm Monday – Friday.
● Additional 4 hours per week of classroom preparation, professional development, meetings and/or events support.
● Responsible for leading the Primary team in classroom preparation, classroom management, classroom routine, classroom activities, professional development, events support, etc.
● Responsible for lesson planning, progress reports and other administrative responsibilities.
● Responsible, with team’s support, for daily routine and daily reports for children.
● Responsible for classroom management and work with children and families.
● Speaks in Spanish at all times with children and is responsible for the classroom following the Spanish immersion model.
● Receives and greets classroom visitors.
● Maintains a clean classroom and school in partnership with all staff and cleaning support.
● Acts as a substitute in order to assure adequate coverage for the school site.
● Administers first aid, provides health office coverage and dispenses approved medication to students in accordance with EMSA First Aid/CPR training.
● Operates a variety of office equipment including a copier, fax machine, two-way radio, computer and assigned software.

Ideal Candidate:
● AMI Primary trained.
● 3+ years of experience leading a Primary Classroom.
● Experienced or committed to the Spanish Immersion model.
● Possesses a minimum of 12 ECE units.
● Bilingual Spanish and English (Native Spanish speakers encouraged to apply)
● Believes in the unique human potential of each child, and recognizes the impact and connection of each child in the world.
● Passionate about the value of Montessori education in the service of equity, diverse communities and social justice.
● Demonstrates initiative, flexibility and open mindedness, along with the willingness to be part of a community that learns and grows together.
● Demonstrates responsibility, punctuality and accountability.
● Has a valid authorization to work in the United States.

Candidate Requirements:
● Physically able to stand up 95% of the classroom hours and lift up to 40 pounds.
● Guide classroom and children on outdoor excursions and field trips.
● Bend, stoop and sit for various tasks throughout the day.
● Assume postures in low level positions that best allow physical and visual contact with children.
● Move from a seated position to a standing position promptly to respond to emergency situations.
● Perform all activities with children, i.e. jump, dance, walk, run, etc. for extended periods of time.
● Must be able to sustain a high level of energy.
● Must possess acceptable hearing and visual capabilities in order to monitor the environment and children’s well being.
● Our school embraces nature, outdoors and adult guided “going out.” May be required to be outdoors and push children in up to six child buggies for regular, prolonged activities.
