Castle Island Bilingual Montessori is an accredited independent nonprofit Spanish immersion Montessori school located in Downtown Albany, New York, serving children ages 3–13.

Position Overview
Castle Island Bilingual Montessori is seeking both an Early Childhood (Primary) Lead Guide and a Lower Elementary Lead Guide for the 2026–2027 school year.
Lead Guides serve as the link between the child and the prepared environment, carefully observing each child’s interests and developmental needs while preparing meaningful lessons and experiences. Guides work closely with families, collaborate with colleagues, and contribute to curriculum planning, student assessments, and school community events.
Responsibilities
- Lead an authentic Montessori classroom in a bilingual Spanish-English environment
- Observe each child’s interests and developmental needs
- Prepare and maintain a beautiful, organized, and engaging Montessori environment
- Present Montessori lessons individually and in small groups
- Build strong relationships with students and families
- Maintain student records, assessments, and progress reports
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum within a bilingual Montessori model
- Participate in school events, professional development, and planning meetings
- Foster a peaceful, respectful, and inclusive classroom community
Qualifications
Early Childhood Lead Guide
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field
- AMS Early Childhood credential, AMI Primary diploma, or enrollment in a Montessori teacher training program
- Minimum 5 years of teaching experience
- Spanish-English bilingual fluency preferred
Lower Elementary Lead Guide
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field
- AMS Lower Elementary credential, AMI Lower Elementary diploma, or enrollment in a Montessori teacher training program
- Minimum 5 years of teaching experience
- Spanish-English bilingual fluency required

Salary & Benefits
Salary: $40,000–$42,000 annually
Contract Dates: August 24, 2026 – June 17, 2027
