Position Overview
Hazelnut Montessori School is seeking an experienced and dedicated Lead Montessori Teacher to guide a prepared environment that nurtures independence, curiosity, and respect for each child’s development.
This position is ideal for a strong instructional leader who demonstrates professional maturity, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead both students and staff with confidence, warmth, and integrity.
The Lead Montessori Teacher plays an important role in maintaining the Montessori philosophy while ensuring a safe, structured, and engaging classroom environment.

Responsibilities
Classroom Leadership & Student Development
- Lead a Montessori classroom in alignment with Montessori philosophy and school standards.
- Foster the academic, social, and emotional growth of each child.
- Maintain a prepared, orderly, and engaging classroom environment.
- Observe, assess, and adapt lessons according to individual student needs.
- Ensure the safety, well-being, and supervision of all students.
Instruction & Curriculum
- Deliver individualized and small-group Montessori lessons.
- Maintain and update lesson plans and student academic records.
- Coordinate curriculum implementation with specialty teachers.
- Prepare student progress reports and conduct formal parent conferences.
- Support children of varying abilities, including those with learning differences.
Team Leadership & Staff Development
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate assistant teachers.
- Provide training, guidance, and daily direction to classroom support staff.
- Foster a collaborative, respectful, and professional work environment.
- Participate in faculty meetings, training sessions, and professional development.
Parent & Community Engagement
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents and guardians.
- Communicate regularly regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Conduct parent conferences, interviews, and meetings.
- Support parent education initiatives and school community events.
Operations & Administration
- Maintain accurate attendance, student records, and classroom documentation.
- Ensure compliance with school policies, state regulations, and health requirements.
- Uphold confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
- Support school-wide initiatives, events, and operational needs.
- Maintain classroom materials, inventory, and overall environment cleanliness.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Montessori Certification (AMI, AMS, or MACTE-accredited) – required
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Montessori teaching role.
- Strong classroom management and leadership skills.
- Professional maturity, presence, and reliability.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Commitment to Montessori philosophy.

Additional Requirements
- Minimum age of 21.
- Completion of background check and fingerprinting.
- Compliance with state health requirements, including TB testing, immunizations, and physical examination.
- Submission of references, transcripts, and required documentation.
