Location: Montessori by the Sea – La Jolla, California
Position Type: Part-Time and Full-Time
Compensation: $22–$28 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)
About Montessori by the Sea
Montessori by the Sea is a nurturing, bilingual, community-centered Montessori school located in beautiful La Jolla, California. Our program is dedicated to fostering independence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning in children. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated AMS or AMI trained Montessori Guide to join our team and support our mission of providing an authentic Montessori education in a warm and collaborative environment.
Position Overview
The Montessori Guide will lead a prepared Montessori classroom, supporting children’s academic, social, and emotional development while maintaining fidelity to Montessori philosophy and practices. The ideal candidate is warm, collaborative, organized, and committed to guiding children toward independence and confidence. Spanish-speaking preferred.
Key Responsibilities
  • Help lead a Montessori classroom in alignment with AMS or AMI Montessori principles
  • Prepare and maintain an engaging, orderly Montessori environment
  • Observe and guide students individually to support their developmental needs
  • Foster independence, respect, and a love of learning
  • Communicate effectively with parents and families regarding student progress
  • Collaborate with school leadership and colleagues to support the school community
  • Maintain accurate student records and classroom documentation

Qualifications
  • AMS or AMI Montessori Certification (required)
  • 12 units of Early Childhood Development (preferred)
  • Prior Montessori classroom experience (preferred)
  • Strong classroom leadership and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for authentic Montessori education
